My Best Friend Left Me For His Girlfriend And I Hate Him For That
I've always had the unfortunate desire to want exactly what I couldn't have. They were appealing to me, and I was all about the chase. Once I got what I wanted, I didn't want it anymore. Like clockwork. But like anything, that changed. I fell in love with a friendship that was organically created due to life events. This person was the person whose conversation I had been searching for in anyone I ever met.
I've never had someone understand what I didn't say, explain to me what I didn't understand about my own self, and on top of that, compete with my never ending banter, at any hour, with no quit button. This happened almost immediately upon contact, but it took me months to realize what was actually happening. I loved this guy, and I loved him so much harder than a "friend. I just left a relationship that I thought was my forever. Crazy, right? Why are the people we can't have , always the people who end up meaning the most to us?
We went with it. We went with whatever wave we created, and we created our own ripples so that we wouldn't interrupt the already flowing motions.
My heart was in the hands of someone who I couldn't have, and I didn't even care. I never once asked him to leave her. That thought hardly crossed my mind. All I wanted was his attention, love, conversation, comfort, and banter. And that's exactly what I got. I couldn't explain my happiness to anyone, and I luckily didn't have to, because no one could know. Call it what you want, but understand that I was fully aware that what I was doing, emotionally, was wrong.

I didn't think twice. You wouldn't either. We rode our wave for nearly a year, until our lives increased with outside situations and the "we" that we created inevitability got lost in the crossfire. It was the most emotional-rollercoaster of a relationship that I've ever had with another human being.
We could get each other so high, and drop one another twice as hard. But I guess that's the problem when you really get to know someone. We learn all their triggers and emotional buttons, and unfortunately, in times of war, we press them. I would tell you that to this day, I can't think of one situation where I would ignore his call.
I talk to his girlfriend often, and I mean it when I say I hope they're doing well. Sometimes, we really can't get what we want. But that doesn't mean we can't feel. Feel good, feel bad, feel indifferent, but I'll always be thankful that anyone could make me feel something. To this day, we remain great friends. We are no longer anywhere near being in love, but it's comforting to know that no matter how much time passes, we will still have love for one another.
He's still with her. I'm happy elsewhere. That's what's so great about emotions, they're your own personal yearbook. No one will ever be able to take that from you. It was magic. That was the only word I could describe it. Feeling that much of an emotion knocked me so far off my axis. If you asked me about that relationship, this is what I'd say: I would tell you that to this day, I can't think of one situation where I would ignore his call.
I fell in love with someone I knew I couldn't have. And I'd do it all again. Facebook Comments.
