There are lots of Regency romances out ther. I also liked when there were misunderstandings, they did not retire in hurt or anger to their own corners; they were adults who discussed the problem. It was was great fun to read and the characters are well fleshed out. I also liked that Emma finds new friends, who of course will feature in other books.

It's not as funny as the next one, but still a solid read.

This book was absolutely amazing. I love the main characters and how different they were from typical historical leads are in books. It was quite refreshing that Ash wasn't the dashing womanizing rakish Duke and Emma wasn't the typical society girl or gentleman's daughter who either is in desperate need of a husband or who is charmed by the male into bed and finds herself having to marry him.

It was also nice that Emma was allowed to be sexually aware and to find sex enjoyable from the very beginning. And boy does Tessa know how to write those sex scenes, hot hot hot! This is a must read book for anyone who likes historical romances! Tessa Dare's witty writing and strong heroines keep me reading her books, but somehow I never got around to reading this one until I needed some travel reading.

It did not disappoint, and in fact reminded me a lot in a good way! Can't wait for the next one! To all the people who have recommended Tessa Dare, I will humble myself and now bow to you. It was every thing you said and more.

I loved it! Poignant, romantic, and whip-smart. Oh, and funny. The banter was some of the best! I am a convert. I loved this book! Tessa Dare's historical romances are full of strong women, engaging and thoughtful men and a ton of witty banter and humor. I can't help but laugh out loud as I read her books. I totally loved the lightness of this particular story and found all the characters to be very likeable. The first in a new series by Dare introduces Emma, a seamstress, and her three new friends who have interests in animals, science, and astronomy.

I enjoyed that Emma works before she is married and continues to express passion in creating garments after the nuptials. Dare does well creating strong female characters. Can't wait to see what she does with the rest of the "Girl Meets Duke" series. Tessa Dare has done it again. A love story of personal forgiveness, and redemption. The hero has physical flaws and a hidden soft heart. The heroine has physical beauty while lacking social cachet.

Tender emotions, obviously growing into love; witty repartee, and another successful regency romance book deal. When beautiful, brave seamstress Emma Gladstone arrives at the Duke of Ashbury's manor wearing a wedding dress, he's instantly intrigued. Emma wants to be paid for the dress, which was meant to be worn by Ashbury's ex-fiancee.

However, the duke proposes marriage instead. He needs an heir, but has become reclusive and mean-spirited after being disfigured in a battle and is sure no woman will ever love him by choice.

He offers Emma all the worldly comfort she could desire in exchange for a loveless marriage of convenience. As soon as she delivers an heir, she can retire to a quiet country life and they never have to see each other again. Emma, who was cast out by her father after she let herself be lost to love before, doesn't have many respectable prospects, so she agrees and becomes Ashbury's duchess in hopes that she can use her new fortune to help an unmarried, pregnant client escape a ruined reputation.

However, Ashbury and Emma soon find they are VERY compatible in bed and begin to fall in love, despite their promise to keep emotions out of their relationship. Complicating matters are Ashbury's bitter ex-fiancee, Emma's unkind father, and Ashbury's secret identity as a crime-fighting vigilante, but with the help Emma's new friends who later receive their own books in this series and her own headstrong determination, the couple is able to overcome their initial reluctance and build a happy life together.

I really enjoyed this funny and charming marriage of convenience! Vicar daughter Emma Gladstone learned the hard way to depend solely on herself.

I absolutely adored the romance between the two main lead characters Emma and Ashbury. It consistently maintains the largest market share in the American publishing industry, even as it welcomes new subgenres like queer and BDSM romance.
